Visas: For all advice on visas to enter Australia you should refer to your nearest Australian Immigration Office. For those of you who qualify, the Electronic Travel Authority or ETA is the most convenient option and is available over the internet. Melbourne Airport: Travelling to or from Melbourne Airport you can go by Taxi or by Bus operated by Skybus. A taxi costs about AUD$40-50 one way whereas the bus costs AUD$15 one way. The terminus for Skybus is at the Southern Cross station (Spencer Street). From there you need to take a taxi or tram to the University or your hotel. For those who choose to hire a car, you may require a CityLink pass for travelling on parts of the Tullamarine Freeway which connects Melbourne Airport to the CBD. CityLink tolling options should be discussed with your rental car company. To avoid paying a toll, drivers may wish to seek an alternate route from the airport to the CBD such as the Western Ring Road; see http://www.whereis.com for street maps of Australia. Parking at or near the University (or anywhere in the city for that matter), is problematic and not cheap. For getting around the University area and CBD, walking or taking a tram is recommended. If driving is essential, there is an underground carpark that is available to the public underneath University Square (107, ref. N15 on University map). This is the best option, but it will cost you about A$15 for the day. Reasonably priced domestic flights within Australia can be purchased with a credit card over the internet with either Virgin Blue or JetStar.Accommodation
